Bendel Tank Heat Exchanger

Storage Tank to Heat Exchanger Manufacturing

For over 50 years, the Bendel Tank & Heat Exchanger team has manufactured custom Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Nickel Alloy vessels per UL, API or ASME specifications. Our custom above-ground storage tanks are designed, engineered and manufactured up to 75,000 gallon capacities by teams of experienced and dedicated professionals. The Bendel name has stood for exceptional design quality and engineering for more than half a century. Customer Satisfaction Through the Pursuit of Perfection.

Storage Tank Manufacturer

FROM PETROCHEMICAL TO PHARMACEUTICALS...Bendel is a leading storage tank manufacturer and has the expertise to design and fabricate custom aboveground storage tanks to meet your industrial needs. We can provide the highest quality single-wall and double-wall storage tanks up to 186” diameter and 75,000 gallon capacity. Storage tanks are designed, built and tested to meet industry standards including UL-142, NFPA-22, API-650, API-620, API-12F or ASME. Tanks are available in Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel or Nickel Alloy materials.

Pressure Vessels & Reactors

STRINGENT ASME CODE REQUIREMENTS GUIDE VESSEL FABRICATION.All Bendel Pressure Vessels and Reactors are designed and fabricated in strict accordance with ASME (Section VIII, Division I). ASME vessels can be fabricated from Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel or Nickel Alloy materials. The ASME code may encompass the primary vessel only or the entire assembly which may include heating/cooling jackets, internal coils or other pressure retaining components.

Heat Exchangers

Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers are the most common type of heat exchanger used in the chemical process industry. As its name implies, this type of heat exchanger consists of a shell filled with a bundle of tubes and sealed at each end by a tubesheet isolating the tubes and the shell. A fluid or gas flows through the tubes while another fluid or gas flows through the shell causing heat to transfer through the tube walls. The set of tubes is called a tube bundle and may be composed of various tube configurations: plain, longitudinally finned, etc. Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers are used in applications where the demands from high temperatures and pressures are significant. Bendel designs and fabricates all three types of Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers: Fixed Tubesheet, U-tube and Floating Tubesheet.

Heating & Cooling Media

Bendel is a specialist when it comes to heating and cooling media. The end result is always to maintain a specific temperature as part of a storage or manufacturing process. We provide our clients with four unique options for maintaining temperature-specific vessels. Conventional Jackets provide a large heating or cooling transfer area however, depending upon the pressure, can be substantially more expensive than other alternatives. Dimpled Jackets also provide for a large heating or cooling transfer area but are not recommended for pressures exceeding 200 psi or when the cycling of steam and cooling water is to be utilized in the process. The cost of dimpled jackets is relatively inexpensive. Half Pipe Jackets are more expensive than dimpled jackets but do not have the pressure or cycling limitations of dimpled jackets. All three external jacket options do not pose a potential for material contamination.

Markets Served

Chemical
The Chemical Process Industry is a common user of traditional storage tanks. These vessels are used to store industrial liquids and other flowable materials required in the manufacture of their final products. In many cases, Storage tanks are also needed to store the final product prior to shipment. The Chemical Process Industry also utilizes Pressure Vessels, Reactors and Heat Exchangers extensively to convert raw materials by mixing, blending, heating or cooling to produce their final product.

Petrochemical
The Petrochemical Industry is another significant user of Storage Tanks, Pressure Vessels, Reactors and Heat Exchangers. This industry uses these vessels to store, mix, blend, heat or cool their raw materials in order to produce the commercial fuel or additive.

Pulp & Paper
Bendel designs and fabricates a wide range of custom vessels utilizing Stainless Steel or Nickel Alloys to resist the corrosive environments present in this industry.
Our goal is to design and build efficient high quality products for our pulp & paper customers by using the most cost effective stainless steel material available.

Textile
The Textile industry represented the largest user of Bendel’s fabricated products prior to their movement off-shore. We continue to manufacture storage tanks, dye becks, mixing tanks, reactors, shell and tube heat exchangers and numerous highly specialized vessels for the dyeing, treatment and conditioning of yarn and fabrics for specialty textile plants still operating in the US.

Paint
Bendel designs and manufacturers storage tanks and reactors for the coatings industry. A majority of these vessels are jacketed for heating or cooling and equipped to accept mixing & blending equipment. The manufacturing process may also require pressure and vacuum service.

Water/Wastewater Treatment
Bendel manufactures Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Nickel Alloy tanks for the storage of Industrial/Municipal water treatment chemicals. Additionally we design and manufacture ASME hydro-pneumatic vessels for potable water storage systems and pressure vessels utilized in the water treatment and filtration industry.

Pharmaceutical
Bendel designs, fabricates and polishes an array of custom vessels to meet the unique and stringent requirements required by the pharmaceutical industry. The finishes provided to our customers range from a #4 sanitary to a #8 mirror finish and electro-polishing. Bendel can provide heating/cooling jackets with insulation and a sanitary protective skin. CIP systems are routinely designed and installed into the final assembly.
